About
When life’s unmapped paths lead you towards unplanned destinations.
This business began, quite simply, with a conversation between friends. What started as a passing chat soon grew into something much deeper: a curiosity about the remarkable potential of mushrooms. That curiosity led to countless hours of reading, researching, and exploring the long history of fungi in traditional wellness.
Along the way, a series of chance encounters began to shape what would eventually become this small tincture project. One of the first was meeting the owner of Hugo & Green in Brighton’s Laines. His enthusiasm for nature and his deep knowledge of growing plants and fungi were genuinely infectious, and the conversation stayed with me long afterwards.
Around the same time, life took an unexpected turn and I found myself volunteering at Sussex Prairie Gardens. Working closely with the land and becoming attuned to the seasonal rhythms of plants and fungi brought a new level of appreciation for the natural world and its quiet intelligence.
Through this experience I was introduced to Lorraine and Jodie Caley, local mushroom growers who, by coincidence, lived very close by. Their knowledge, generosity, and encouragement were invaluable. When they offered to supply the mushrooms for my tinctures, the idea that had been slowly forming finally began to take shape.
The choice to make tinctures felt natural. Double extraction allows the full spectrum of beneficial compounds within the mushroom to be captured, creating a concentrated and accessible way to work with these extraordinary organisms.
Looking back, the entire journey has been guided less by planning and more by a handful of unexpected moments: conversations, encounters, and opportunities that appeared at just the right time. It’s a reminder that life’s most meaningful paths are often the ones we never mapped out in advance.
